Happy 70th Birthday to our Inspiration and Friend, Lynn Lippert

August 14, 2012

We celebrated Lynn’s milestone year on her “home mountain,” Mt. Hood, June 9. She went on to summit Mt. Shasta with 18 teammates on July 1, 2012.

If you need inspiration, for anything, look no further than Climb to Fight Breast Cancer participant and three-time breast cancer survivor Lynn Lippert.  Lynn is the cornerstone of our program. She is the most amazing climber I’ve had the privilege to share boot tracks with (and I’ve met some pretty cool mountaineers who are likely reading this post!).  She’s the reason I fundraise year after year. One day, the critical life-saving research we all support and fund, might assist Lynn.

Everyone affiliated with the Climb to Fight Breast Cancer, benefitting Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, looks up to Lynn. When the going gets tough; the limbs feel cold; the legs scream tired; and the fundraising becomes challenging; we think of Lynn and don’t complain, but rally on!

In Lynn’s own words from her personal fundraising webpage:

“2012 is a year of celebration as there is much to celebrate. I’m turning 70 and entering a new decade! Also, it has been 15 years since my first breast cancer diagnosis, 12 years since the second one, and 3 years since the dreaded recurrence that metastasized in my bones. (This adds up to 30 years)  I am celebrating because I am currently healthy, the cancer is in remission, and I love birthdays.”

Thank you, Lynn.  Happy 70th to you on your birthday, August 13. Cheers to the many more mountains you’ll climb!

Happy Birthday Lynn! It’s so true that we are all inspired by what you’ve done, what you’ve overcome and what you continue to accomplish. Wishing you a happy healthy birthday and many more after that! See you on the mountains, my dear friend! 🙂 Hugs! Laurie Normandeau
