Aside from gaining physical endurance, one of the greatest benefits of participating in the Climb to Fight Breast Cancer is the friends you will make along the way. Whether you join a training group in your neighborhood and develop new friendships, or connect with a colleague at work over a discussion about cancer research when he donates to your climb, these relationships are one of the reasons why I returned to climb in subsequent years. Not only am I grateful for the individual relationships I have formed, but I sincerely appreciate the support from many loyal corporate partners over the years.

One of these partners is the outdoor retailer, Feathered Friends. Located just blocks from Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center on Yale Avenue in Seattle, Feathered Friends and its owner, Carol Hickner, have believed in the mission of the Climb to Fight Breast Cancer for many years.

Chances are, if you are a registered participant in a 2010 climb, you will rent your gear, or purchase a few extras, at Feathered Friends. Carol and her team of experts support breast cancer research by offering screaming deals on gear rentals and discounts on items purchased and ordered at their Seattle retail location. Additionally, they continue to enthusiastically promote the Climb to Fight Breast Cancer to their loyal customers. Carol has even done a radio interview on our behalf!

As a frequent customer myself, I can attest to the professionalism and knowledge of the Feathered Friends staff. Whether it’s skillfully fitting you for your backpack or suggesting the most efficient boots for your journey, you won’t find better service anywhere! Thank you for supporting our generous sponsors.
