Why I Climb Mountains...Michael Heathfield

Every Climb to Fight Breast Cancer team captures stories, memories and imaginations.  This year’s Mt. Shasta summit was years in the making.  We were honored to have multiple-year supporter Michael Heathfield on the peak. Michael lives the mountain lifestyle as an adventurist, REI employee and philanthropist. He’s spent hours championing the cutting edge research conducted at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center.  He’s twice been one of our top fundraising climbers.

Michael has climbed on our Rainier, Hood, Denali and Shasta teams.  This year’s Mt. Shasta climb included a group of his Salt Lake City, Utah friends and his nephew, Andrew Heathfield.
